Outdoor, play-based enrichment for kindergarten & early elementary learners

Wild Roots is our Wild Nook Foundations class for kindergarten and first-grade-aged children. Designed as a small, mixed-age learning community, this program builds on the play-based, nature-centered philosophy children experience in Wild Sprouts and Wild Buds, while offering a gentle next step for older learners.

While distinct from our preschool offerings, Wild Roots is grounded in the same values—honoring childhood, nurturing relationships, and supporting the whole child through meaningful, hands-on learning in nature. Rooted in Christian faith, our program is guided by values of kindness, gratitude, stewardship, and love, with faith woven gently into our time together through prayer, stories, songs, and conversations. Play, connection, and development remain at the heart of our curriculum, with foundational skills thoughtfully integrated rather than taught through formal instruction or academic pressure.

Classes are held outdoors in most weather, with indoor space used when conditions require it.

Program Information

Wild Roots is designed for children who are ready for deeper exploration, collaboration, and creative thinking, while still honoring the importance of play, movement, and time in nature.

Rather than rushing academics, we focus on building confidence, flexibility, curiosity, and social awareness through meaningful experiences. Foundational academic skills are naturally woven into the curriculum to support a balanced, developmentally appropriate learning experience.
