Class Rhythm

At Wild Nook, our Nature Explorations follow a gentle rhythm that offers familiarity and flow while leaving plenty of space for curiosity to lead the way. Each gathering lasts about an hour and includes six essential parts that create a rich, shared learning experience.

1. Welcome

As Explorers and Guides arrive, they’re warmly greeted by the teacher. Families are invited to settle in at their own pace — exploring, saying hello, or joining a simple nature-based invitation to play.

2. Gather

Once everyone has arrived, we come together in a cozy circle to greet one another and introduce the day’s theme or idea. This might include a nature object to observe, a story to spark curiosity, or a simple question to invite wonder.

3. Introduction and Launch

We begin with a welcome song or short story that connects to the day’s theme. This moment helps everyone feel grounded and ready to explore.

4. Exploration and Play

This is where the magic unfolds! Families spread out and follow their curiosity — building, imagining, creating, and discovering together. Teachers gently guide and support as needed, offering materials or ideas to extend play, but the true learning comes from the children’s and caregivers’ shared exploration.

5. Clean Up

Before we close, we take time to care for our space — returning nature treasures, rinsing tools, and leaving the area as we found it (or better!). Children and caregivers work together to care for our shared outdoor classroom.

6.Reflection

We end by gathering in a circle to sing, share favorite discoveries, and say goodbye until next time.
